I need more costuming energy

I love costuming. I don't get as much time to work on my costumes as I would like. I need to work on my energy levels in order to get more done. Hopefully this blog will help me explore ways to find inspiration and energy so I can be more productive.

My inspiration usually comes between 8pm and 9pm. It's a terrible biological curse. I inherited it from my artist grandmother. If I stay up to work on my inspiration, I'm a grumpy boy at work the next day. If I don't stay up, my inspiration turns to frustration and depression, which drains m energy (creative and otherwise). I go to bed at 10. 2 hours isn't really enough for me. Maybe it's just a mental block. Starting tonight, I'm going to try to do ONE creative thing EVERY day, even if it's just taping two pieces of paper together.

Once a month I try to get other creative friends together for a Sunday creative fest. That has helped. Though I really need more time than that. The clock is ticking for this Halloween. WTF you might say, but seriously, I'm THAT bad.

Here is a snapshot of the current state of my 2009 costume. The theme is Earth. The mask is paper mache. I'm working on the roots. All I did today is wrap some of the paper into long cones for the roots. Hey, it's a start.

Something I'm doing for energy is listening to energetic (mostly pop) music. Aqua, George Michael, Boy bands, etc. It's amazing how music affects my energy levels. I've been listening to a lot of ethereal darkwave music this summer... Great for heloing visualizing fabulous things, but not great for executing on them!

Anyone who reads this, let me know if you have any other ideas on getting energy, particuarly energy for executing on creative inspiration. I would love to be inspired at 8am on weekends, but that simply never happens for me. I'm barely human until afternoon..
